It’s the season of love and while some celebrate with soulmates, love can be celebrated in so many different ways.
Recently, someone told me how their ex of 40 years had reached out to return a few sentimental items. They met & had a moment of closure. Both had been married for over 25 years to different people, yet both had a deep fondness & respect for where they both were.
Relationships, like life are not linear. It is possible to love someone platonically, from afar, & forever. We share such deep moments with people. We live, we learn, & whether we like it or not we grow.
Most people don’t marry the love of their lives. They marry the one for them. The one the universe chooses to challenge them, to teach them, & to give them the chance to become the best version of who they are. We get what we need, not what we want.
It’s terrifying to release control that we so carefully fought for. The planning out a future that is not meant to be. Sitting in the comfort of a life we have so delicately padded for ourself, but at some point we grow bored, we go to find our purpose.
What I have learned is that the one we want is not always the one for us and the one we love does not always love us back.
with love,
